Based on the trailer I thought I was going to like this romantic comedy, if only because the genre has been sorely missed. The movie could be described as cute in a pejorative manner. It just didn't have enough substance to make it interesting, worst of all it felt very predictable. At one point I was hoping that the movie had secretly switched from being the narrative we were watching to the novel being written by the main character. I…

Sherlock Holmes

One major association I have with this movie is that I thought Andy Garcia was the villain based on the trailers, having never been introduced to Mark Strong before. Most satisfying part of the screening is that someone from the film distribution company was present and I was able to tell him directly that the AI dubbing was horrible.

My major gripe was that the movie felt poorly directed allowing some of the performances to seem inauthentic when really all these actors feel authentic, I've met characters like these in real life. The story of a father dealing with his trauma in a way that forces him to relive it was such a great premise that the movie takes its time to get to…
