Ever since I saw Queer last sunday the film has been etched into my brain and I just felt the need to watch it again. This is probably Luca Guadagnino’s most thematically esoteric film and I think it’s almost necessary…

Still as good as the first time I saw this film: beautiful cinematography, a magnificent score and some of the best performances you could ever have in a film. 
Thelma Schoonmaker and Scorsese are so fucking brilliant together.  The way they edited the mono photograph stills of The Osage before cutting to white people fucking them over for their money. Ryan Coogler delivers one of the most interesting iterations of the “vampire”; rather than being a blood sucking creature of the night or an “impossible lover” (twilight) it is instead a representation of an idea: freedom locked behind an eternal night. 

It isn’t explicitly stated just how Remmick (Jack O’Connell) became a vampire but we at least do know he’s lived for a VERY long time but the better question would be what made him into a vampire? I guess I’ll figure that…
