julia roberts is very charming in this but it makes it seem like divorce is so simple and everyone is just as financially free as her

legitimately better than the godfather like al pacino has nothing on britney spears and that isn't even considering the sheryl crow needle drop

their reactions are fairly warranted given all the ways gaylord messes up

i like that rather than being a larger-than-life dystopian society with unlimited energy this paints a picture of something that we a very close to now, and a lot of the themes are resonant in 2025 even tho it was released and 2006 (and written before that)

a commentary on life and death, jim crow and the racial divide, the history of american music, and more 

this is on both michael b jordan and hailee steinfeld's personal mount rushmores (which are both looking great) 

loved the switch up that all of the actors went through of their performances as humans vs as vampires 

a small detail i loved was that this being the jim crow era all of the characters kind of speak to hailee steinfeld's character as if she's regal or literally better than them because that is just what the anti-integration agenda was

falls pretty flat other than good performances from florence pugh and anthony hopkins 

the modernized shakespeare film is something that seemingly no one has been able to figure out

the joy i get from seeing amy adams twirl around in an office next to a fish tank is immense

something that gvs does well here and in good will hunting is he has like this ability to completely make the camera disappear, when you are watching his movies it feels like you are with the characters and you feel their joy & pain

but with this i felt like although i understand the feeling of "idk what to do with my life so i'll walk through the woods put on a dress and eat a huge bowl of coco puffs" the movie doesn't get past that on a fundamental level
