A epic of very little comparison, with such grand proportions and a large, living, developed world that holds so much history and depth and richness, both in the natural world and the creatures who inhabit it. A return to form after 12’s more mixed response, and it works like a dang treat using so many slick visual techniques and lovely character bonds to make watching this finale a true blast. If (by my memory) the first movie was coolness overload, this is pretty much that movie going “screw it we ball” and having a goddamn blast. It’s just one hell of a vibe movie, where the stakes are presented at high and are understood to be high, but feel really chill and low to the benefit of the movie.
