Sometimes, there's a movie, well, it's the movie for its time and place. It fits right in there. And that's The Big Lebowski, in Los Angeles.

Malkovich. Malkovich... Malkovich? MALKOVICH!!!

A masterclass in originality as dark humour meets existentialism in this surreal exploration of desire, consciousness and identity. Charlie Kaufman's screenplay is from another world - so crazy and clever and full of absurdist imagination. The ideas he develops and the places he takes them are truly one of a kind. You just gotta keep livin man, L-I-V-I-N!

Second time round with this one, what a great fucking hang! From Sweet Emotion right through to the end credits it's just so incredibly well-paced and woven together. Awesome, awesome vibes! And to use the parlance of our times, Matthew McConaughey out here aura farming, while Ben Affleck was crashing tf out. Mike my MVP though!

Super fun and vibrant end of school teen comedy with a couple of friends finally putting the books down and letting loose! Best Superbad since Superbad? A story throughline? A consistent theme? Emotional stakes!?

While it doesn't always get there, the first act is pretty rough, and some of the Julia Louise-Dreyfus bits I'm less keen on, but for the most part, this is a fun time at the movies! Once David Harbour s the party this thing really kicks into action and it feels refreshing for the MCU in that it fucks off the ever-expanding lore, the multiversal nonsense and the whiffy unserious tone and…

Yeah, this is great! Totally in that Melville/Mann lineage where it distils noir down to its most base level and then illuminates it with neon-lit lucidity. And how great too that in true Michael Mann fashion this makes perfect use of a beach scene! The plot here is simple but the execution is fantastic - stylish, gripping, bleak and beautiful.

Every fella's a psycho in the driver's world, including the driver, which then makes the build-up to the violence all…
