This is a fairly interesting time capsule of a movie in that we see (played against the backdrop of WW2) a blueprint for progressivism in the 20th century in the microcosm of a submarine. Grant, the stalwart sea captain reluctantly accommodates women, hapless foreigners and newborn babies onto his submarine at the behest of fast talking New Yorker Tony Curtis.
