]]>"In Theaters around the World, where Action is almost a Religion, they worship a Hero...and on February 6th...He arrives."
This was a quote from the trailer to 1998s "The Replacement Killers", the first US Movie of Chow Yun-Fat, and I always liked the nods to his status as a legendary action hero. I like my fair share of Horroctobers and Hoop-Tobers but my Number 1 Genre was and still is: Action. I want to watch and rewatch some of the Classic or find gems I haven't seen or noticed before.
Since I'm from , I grew up with the Spencer/Hill Buddy-Movies and loved every minute of them. Adam West as Batman was my hero and I soon discovered my love for Indiana Jones and watching Terminator 2 as a 13-Year-Old blew my mind. I hope that they still can deliver.
I'm putting some movies in this list that I want to watch and some more as I go along.

]]>Live from Zombietown, it's the third Hoop-Tober and I'm participating once again. Why? Because it's the favorite time of year to be on Letterboxd. Stuff is happening, everyone is united to do this challenge and everybody tries to have the most creative list or creative list title. Speaking of which...I usually tend to not finish the list. Bad habit, I know. I need to cheat a little, because I already started watching movies by Lucio Fulci (Take a look at my "Cinematic Trip To Italy") and also try to watch more movies from FantasyFilmFestival because of "Peter's Challenge". Let's see how I manage.
QUICK EASY RULES:
7 films from franchises(mix-and-match, or the same. 7 total)
6 countries
5 decades
5 films from before 1970
5 films from the following: Bava, Argento, Lenzi, Fulci, Henenlotter, Romero, Stuart Gordon (mix-and-match, or all one)

1 original film and its remake(Evil Dead, Frankenstein, Halloween etc..)
1 Classic Universal horror

]]>This is for "Beat" Lepistös List for Beginners
Introducing someone to Film and the Magic of Cinema is something like introducing your crush to your favorite band. You don't kick down her door, blasting "Battery!" or "I wanna f**k you like an animal.",nooo. No, No, No. That would be foolish.
You want to create a special mixtape, with tracks that are easy on the ears. Or a familiar tune. Then you take the next step, and the next, until she is hooked...Then you can scream: "Battery!"
With this list, I try to convey my excitement for movies by picking specific titles. Not the most popular, but movies who represent the magic of cinema.
I always debate with others over my taste in film. I think that movies should be fun, they should be dumb. Film Critic Pauline Kael once said: "The Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash, we shouldn't go at all. " Embrace the fun, say "Yes" to the Bays and Bolls.
But movies should also be entitled to hurt their viewers, make them angry, sad, cry. Life is not all fun and games, and Amélie is not just around every corner.
Please consider this 10 Films as a start. They are not considered the "Best Movies of all time". This list should encourage you to discover films. I'm sure you will discover those Classics by your own.
A word of advice:
Open your mind.
Only trust yourself.
Leave your comfort zone once in a while.
Always be curious.
Letterboxd.
Why "Totoro"?
Pure Magic.
Why "Blancanieves"?
You don't need words to tell a story.
Silent and/or Black & White Movies don't need to be "Old Fashioned"
Why "Side by Side"?
This may be an odd choice, but I believe to understand art, you have to understand the medium and the ion for it.
Why "Waltz with Bashir"?
I don't want to go into detail, because it would ruin the movie. All I want to say is this: If you want to make a point, this is how you do it. And "Waltz with Bashir" is why I love movies so much.
Why "Mary and Max"?
Very underrated and one of those little gems.
Why "Hana-Bi"?
Please, don't hate me.
Why "Scott Pilgrim"?
Fun! ?
Why "Gosford Park"?
A "Jack of all Trades".
Why "TAoJJbtCRF"?
This is your Test, a final exam. 160 Minutes of Perfection and Greatness.
Why "The Lord of the Rings"?
If you want to become a filmmaker, always : This Guy started with "Bad Taste", a zero budget production from New Zealand. Shot over a four-year period with friends playing the lead roles.
Dream Big...with talent you can achieve anything.
After watching "The General" I was reminded that I used to watch Keaton, the Keystone Kops and Laurel & Hardy as kid. We didn't had Cable, I only got 3 German, 2 Austrian and 1 Swiss Channel at my disposal. Luckily the Austrian Channel was the best. They had cartoons, great movies (I vividly ed watching "Rear Window" as a 9-year-old.), Batman with Adam West and a collection of silent comedies. I really loved those.
So, after watching "The General" a couple of weeks back I decided to shell out 150€ ordering the Kino Box from Amazon USA. Boy, am I glad I did. Started watching right away and now I'm trying to rank them all in this list.

]]>If there be light, then there is darkness.
I don't want to write more than necessary about this movies. They are the most dissapointing I watched in 2014.
The first movie that made me feel ill after stumbling out of the cinema. Had to watch something good straight afterwards to forget this piece of crap.
Annoying people fucking and behaving like total douchebags. This documentary failed on every level.
Boring, uninteresting and lots of talking Heads. The worst kind of documentary.
THIS won an Oscar?? THIS??? Not "Act of Killing" nor "Cutie and the Boxer"...but this? #facepalm
Throws everything good about Riddick and his universe overboard. Sad, just sad.
I'm more angry that I bought the freaking BluRay. Worst 15€ I've spent this year.
Unnecessary sequel. What were they thinking?
Stupid and not fun at all.
I did not like any of the characters, just didn't care for any of them. A disappointment because I really like Iglesia.
<=== Look at the left here, please. I hated everyone of them.
I missed a lot this year. Release schedule is always a problem in , so no "Babadook", "Birdman", "Frank", "John Wick", "The Guest" or "Inherent Vice" and so on.
Some Movies like "Nightcrawlers", "The Hobbit", "The Wind rises" or "Oculus" I wasn't able to watch because of a busy time schedule or simply because they won't show up in our cinema.
So...here they are. It's my list, my taste. No particular ranking because I really couldn't decide between the top 4 movies.
I'm so proud that something this good can be made in Austria/. Stunning visuals, great design and an extraordinary cast. My most anticipated movie of 2014 and it delivered.
My last movie of 2014. Brilliant and emotional, should have deserved more awards.
My god...the last scene. I watched the credits, stood up, watched an analysis, read an interview...then watched it again on the same evening.
I don't know where to start. It's perfect.
One of the biggest surprises this year and my favorite action movie of 2014.
A masterpiece by Steve McQueen.
The best Movie from my Hoop-Tober Challenge (which I still haven't finished). Give it a watch, it's really great.
It's Fincher. Not his best and not a good story, but the way it is shot, acted and marketed it deserves a spot on my list.
Again, a really powerful and interesting documentary about art and artists. Highly recommended.
Kathleen Hanna is so interesting and this film really made me a fan of her work.

]]>My 2013 best Feature Films. Wasn't the best year, and since all oscar nominated films have a 2014 release date here in , I had a bit of struggle to get 10 films together. The most movies were some kind of mediocre or nearly missed the list like Fast 6.
A movie that keeps you guessing every time you see it. And you'll always find new ways how to interpret it.
Greta Gerwig just nails this movie. Her, dancing in the streets of NY to David Bowie was one of the best scenes this year and just makes me smile every time I think about it.
Just a great ride with great protagonists and very good directing.
Just a beautiful movie that came out of nowhere. Biggest surprise 2013.
The craziest movie this year! Dancing flies, 'nuff said.
Acting and directing are top notch. The last act was superb, which gives this movie the #6 Spot.
Best Horror Movie 2013.
Came out on DVD this year. Good, heartwarming Story and great images. This Years #8
The Power of Sound and Images with a great Toby Jones.
"Gravity", "Pacific Rim" and "Only God Forgives" share the #10 Spot. All 3 Films are visually striking but fail in of story and character. But those 3 movies have images that you can't forget and are best viewed on the largest screen possible.

]]>Back in 2008, I was lucky to see 2 Movies Back to Back. Those movies happened to be "Taxi to the Dark Side" and "Standard Operating Procedure" and I strongly recommend in seeing them Back to Back as well. It's interesting how these two documentaries connect with each other.
After that, I wanted to know more, so I watched Road to Guantanamo and later "Restrepo" and "Armadillo", who, again, share a basic connection in of story and style.
Today, I've seen "Dirty Wars" and "We steal Secrets" and thought that I could a start a list, covering the topic "War on Terror", which always interested me since Taxi to the Dark Side., because I felt that these two movies share a connection as well, namely "Where are we going with this War on Terror? And how are we dealing with it, especially in of Leaks and Secrets in the wake of the NSA Scandal?"
I know that these movies are somehow one-sided because of the nature of the topic. I thought to start with 9/11 to understand where this has started. I also put Zero Dark Thirty on the list because I felt imho it handled the hunt for Osama bin Laden very well and it nearly became a documentary in the last 30 Minutes.
Please feel free to give suggestions, if you think I forgot an important movie to put on this list.
