Fellini's cinematography is magnificent, he's everyone's idea of an italian auteur, but i couldn't connect with 8 1/2 in the way i anticipated that i would. i felt discomfort at the treatment of the women in this film, as fragmented pieces of his fantasy, which is a problem that i find with a lot of the classics. visual masterpiece, though even if i turn my head at the misogyny, there's still something hollow about it
