this film is a banger. Cage is doing what he does best here along with a strong aussie cast - good to see some familiar faces from mr inbetween in there as well. also this dehydrating, sun baked colour pallet makes everything suitably idyllic and unbearable to watch. the film does run into some midway pacing issues but thankfully it contributes well to a magnificently scored cathartic finale.

With beautiful performances from Elias Anton and Thom Green, Stolevski has created an unstoppable and completely real Australian story. What a way to start MIFF. I think everyone in the audience went to school with an Ebony (brilliantly played by Hattie Hook), and also felt many of the insecurities Elias’ character felt throughout the first act of the film.
