I still love this film but I do find it to be the one that I like just slightly less on every rewatch. Everything in Dubai is fantastic and rivals the best of the franchise easily, no matter how I many times I see that whole part of the film it still hits.
But the antagonists, the overall story, it leaves a bit to be desired, and while there's that certain energy to the fighting that Brad Bird brings I think visually there's something less interesting about this films style in comparison to the first three films, 1, 2 and 3 all have something that visually makes them standout and make them all feel like a period piece in a lot of ways, 1 is clearly 90's action, 2 is clearly 2000's action, 3 has that hand held, gritty style to it that you only get in the late 2000's, but the style and visuals in Ghost Protocol just feel like generic action that may have been fresh in the early 2010's but feels very generic and played out today because most modern action films look and feel just like this.
I don't know, still fantastic, still love it a lot, just the more I watch it the less it stands out amongst the rest of the franchise.
