This script is vapid and the characters often make absolutely perplexing choices. The circumstances are ludicrous. Lindsay Lohan and Kristen Chenowith are wonderfully charming. Perfect Christmas trash. Two stars? Ten stars? Does it matter? It’s hot garbage. Will watch again next Christmas.
20 years of anticipation, my hopes and expectations were dangerously high. Somehow this adaptation still managed to exceed my wildest dreams. It feels clear every person involved in this production deeply loved and cared about doing the story justice. Cynthia Erivo brought a depth and weight to Elphaba that brought me to tears multiple times. Ariana Grande-Butera imbued Galinda with the perfect balance of comedy and emotion. I’ve seen it in theaters three times already and will definitely go again. This movie is my Roman Empire. It made me at least 25% gayer.
