I’m not a musical person whatsoever (besides when it comes to west side story and high school musical) but this was REALLY GOOD. Normally I don’t like musical type music but this cast really made it great. It didn’t feel corny and every piece of it had meaning. The entire crew did an amazing job especially whoever was in charge of costumes because wow it’s some of the best I’ve ever seen. Ofc the one thing that missed the mark was the color grading as people have said but everything else really made up for it.

Actual thoughts on this movie: (rambling)
I loved that I can say I’ve never seen a movie like this before. Yes the end is uncomfortable and maybe a tad long but the entire rest of the movie would have no purpose if it was comfortable or If it was what we wanted to see. She finally finds a good man and everything is perfect? So what? What would be the point of just that. That’s not what reality would be. She’s used to years of sexualization and doesn’t know much else. That’s what she’s comfortable with. The whole reason why she fell for Ivan. He’s what she thought she needed. There’s no lesson for us in this story other than maybe these are the people we judge but all we see is what they came from. The ending shows what Anora may become. It’s uncomfortable because she doesn’t even know what that means. Yes the first half might seem pointless but it shows exactly what temporary happiness is. They look genuinely happy. We see why even though someone may seem extremely happy, perfect, and in place, they’re still not where they’re meant to be. What does a future look like for someone like Anora? What would be her place in the world after everything happened? She would now have to figure that out after only knowing a certain type of world and expecting these bad things to happen to her. I liked that this movie didn’t follow these strict movie rules of having enough background, the right pacing, or whatever else a movie “needs”. It is what we are shown.
