Gorgeous, I would say sultry, but it's not humid. It's warm sometimes hot. Inviting and enticing. Vibrant, and unfolds slowly like a laziest of summer days sometime lost in the middle of August.
]]>A solid romp. Lot of classic Hitchcock suspense staples just with a lot of extra music. Mint ending scene. Hope they move to New York!
]]>Stiff at times, beautiful at others. Technically skillful. Hard to connect with keep track of some of the characters near the end.
]]>The frames or the the film itself seemed off, as if sped up in the beginning. Lots of awkward inhuman moments some fun and campy others just very odd and forced. It all came together nicely in the second half.
]]>Three stars and they all belong to Grace and her stunning beauty that puts the entire Rivera to shame. The extra half is for Jessie who was the only other joy in this film. Horribly edited, confusing plot, bad sound mixing, mix of beautiful and perplexing shots. If you love Grace Kelly yes of course you must watch this, if you love Hitchcock, well watch this after all his other films.
]]>Azure, crimson, sienna, ivory and countless other colors wash across the screen.
This story found be at a moment where I carry much present perspective on the trials of love and self. With that perspective and understanding I found myself wanting the conflict to be more intractable and less transitory as a way to raise the stakes and underline the sometimes knotting and sometimes hollow pain. It be interesting to see this film done in a different style, slower and more contemplative.
Jane Wyman was fantastic, Rock Hudson some scenes in the beginning with the glamor shots were a bit cheesy/clunky. Audio felt off at points too.
]]>The scene in the cafe, it lingers. It was beautiful, depressing, and an example of how film can be used in clever ways to deepen very human emotions. Superb acting by Joachim Trier and great writing of dialogues throughout.
]]>Cute, peaceful, I enjoyed it, enjoyed it after a long night and day of raving. It's fun how little cues of sound, music, and animations can elicit certain emotions and feelings across an audience. Appreciate a film that wants to build trust because the filmmaker and the audience.
]]>What a slob of a man. Such a slob and so well acted that it just disturbed me that anyone, let alone someone so beautiful submit themselves to them. It took me out and the pushing and shoving just disturbed me. It crept up on me and the second half was much stronger. Beautiful shots and clever editing.
]]>Another Homoerotic thriller from Alfred! Top notch old ladies, BABS, MOTHER, dubious elderly repairmen, a sports thriller interlude! An absolute romp!
]]>Technically interesting with wonderful acting. It is a bit dull in that it presupposes that it is captivating. It does what it does and that is fine. Wouldn't disade or encourage anyone to watch this.
]]>As a purveyor of camp in mysterious place I was hoping for a bit more. The beginning "Follow Me" sequence with Amanda was lovely. Everything else was just okay just a bit middle of the road and slow.
]]>Capturing cruelty and some of darkest evil of humanity and the resistance of a community that persists year after year. The sun is rising today in Masafer Yatta and the struggle continues.
I’m reminded of Viktor Frankl’s Man Search from meaning as he details his time at Auschwitz.
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
Ambition, beauty and desire. These existential forces bubble up in the best of us. They twist, turn, collide and crash. And your soul will never be the same and will refuse to settle. Oh, but what a show it was with all joy and despair!
]]>I enjoyed spending time in a rich dense tapestry of life and death. Family, fortune and fortitude, life beckons us, deals us cards and we ask ourselves what's next. What we do and who we bring with us in life sticks. Your humanity and what you have built is your greatest strength and weakness.
]]>Lovely, a bit slow in the beginning, but bubbles into an absolutely titillating drama that will have you on edge ping-ponging between guessing how might things unravel and keeping pace with what continues to transpire from scene to scene.
]]>There is depth in its simplicity. Shots expertly executed, acting phenomenal, that window backdrop gorgeous. Was tickled by how gay this was and how extremely into champagne everyone was. Also just how hard drinkers we used to be.
There is this old Youtube comedy series MURDER MYSTERY PARTY with Kristen Schaal that I saw years and years ago that I now appreciate in a new light. Highly recommend watching that after Hitchcock delight.
]]>Archivists are on the frontlines of maintaining truth, reality, and more deeply basic meaning in a world where there is an exponential increase in the ability for AI to conjure falsehoods.
]]>What a gag! Joan in top form in a very quintessential Joan role. The movie did a great foreshadowing telegraphing the small bits and pieces like a symphony leading to an absolute crescendo. Ann Blyth did so well in her role just absolute brat
]]>I wanted to like this more. I've enjoyed Charlie Kaufman's writing as well enjoyed how some of the team from Moral Orel was involved with this. The mundanity of travel, the repetitive, rigid and perky performance of pilots, hotel workers, cab drivers, Michael Stone also being a similar entity as a conference speaker. That resonates a bit, but not deeply, just reminds me of the moments when I was doing my time commuting back in froth from NJ to NYC how isolating that can be. I thought this could 30 minutes or so. Some 'clever' jokes where a bit flat and some of it dragged on, maybe that was intentional.
