Muad’dib has guided us to Paradise.
Never bet against Denis. He ALWAYS hits it out of the god damn park.
Huge call for this early in the year but this movie will be my #1.
I had the opportunity to see Dune Part 2 early at Sydney IMAX thanks to Letterboxd, WB, Universal & Legendary & let me say that Denis Villeneuve & Greig Fraser absolutely put everything into the look and feel of this movie. The cinematography and Direction was insanely well orchestrated. The B&W infrared scenes were astonishingly good and provided a stark & brutal look at the Harkonnen home planet. But the scenes that will be cemented in history will be the full 70mm shots of the Dunes of Arrakis. Masterful composition.
The story for Dune 2 keeps you on the edge and engaged throughout the entire movie. There are battle scenes littered throughout the politics and nuanced dialogue that is equally engaging in my opinion.
I wont go on about story as I feel you need to experience this as a whole and I don’t want to talk spoilers.
Hans Zimmer kills it again with his score but the sound team deserves an Oscar (please go see this in IMAX, trust me) as their attention to detail was immaculate.
This movie is an incredible tour de force, an incredible experience in itself. The entire cast absolutely nailed their performances. Please please please go see this in IMAX that utilises full Aspect Ratios, I cannot stress this enough. This was an experience not to miss.
