the film bros made me do it

I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Like yes let’s embrace the power of creativity and community against busyness and emotional numbing and conformity. It’s really neat to revisit this and other movies I watched as a kid and be able to see the deeper themes rather than just the surface-level story!
Before watching this, Caleb and I took a walk to a bridge near his apartment that runs over the highway. “I think people forget how fast they’re going,” he said as we felt the wind from each car ing beneath our feet. We were standing in powdery snow from the night before, mostly untouched, but the road below was bare of any sign of the lovely white miracle, and I wonder, just how much beauty and connection do we sacrifice in the name of efficiency?
Goodness gracious do I love this lovely, beautiful movie, and goodness gracious was it magnificent to watch on the big screen. I want to be all of the characters when I grow up. There’s something irable to be found in each of them, whether it’s courage or wonder or wisdom or resolve. I also really loved the intergenerational aspect of the movie. The adults, the children, and the elderly all have something to learn from one another. From sea-foam we come and to sea-foam we shall return, so why not take the risk of loving?
