Special Edition re-releases were all the rage in 1997. Much like the Star Wars Trilogy this entry features some janky CGI to place Tora-san as a half memory/mirage to Mitsuo that opens up thoughts to him about his Uncle and relationship with Lily, before providing a revisit of the 25th entry in the series.

Difficult to encapsulate the immensity of this series in a single entry. Planned or not Yamada hedged his bet with this entry offering comforting reconciliations between characters - pointing toward happily ever after, but not guaranteeing such a saccharine resolution.

For all the potential nostalgia, Yamada and company do not fall prey to finality. Our Tora-san continues to wander peddling his wares and pointedly helping those who need it wherever he goes.
