second watch solidified it as my favorite 2025 release thus far. fucking brilliant.

as absurd as its source material, but grounded by luca’s signature style of romance dripping with raw, almost tender, perversions. daniel and drew were fantastic, with craig’s performance a definite career high. can see this being luca’s most divisive film yet especially after the commercial and accessible grand slam that was challengers, but for fans of the novel, either lead, luca and all others interested in giving this a watch, i can’t recommend enough.
