‘Quiz Lady’ begins as a formulaic stereotypical get rich scheme movie but quickly turns into an original heartfelt comedy. Awkwafina’s turn as Anne Yum, a quiz show savant who has never missed an episode of a ‘Jeapordy’-like show, is carciature-like at times but serviceable. The story centers around her gambling addict mother as the Asian mob is on their tail and they need money fast. That is where the Quiz show comes in and brings along hilarious shenanigans.
