I was surprised at how kind of boring this movie is, all things considered. Plays out almost like a romantic adventure flick more in tone with something like Romancing the Stone.

Once they get to Frogtown, it becomes a RIBBETING romp with some really awesome practical effects and a finale that would make Captain Kirk cheer.

A bit of a late 80's clunker, full of odd, sexually inappropriate gags and awkwardly delivered jokey one-liners that don't really land but once the third act kicks in, it turns into a surreal Carnival of Souls Haunted Mansion cartoon spook-a-palooza!

A quiet trip through nostalgia somewhere between Wizard of Oz/ Neverending Story and a Tool video.

Authentic and feels deeply personal.

The main creature might be the best nightmare ever to put to film.
