The first sign of an inexperienced filmmaker is carpeting the entire film in a constant score. I think with 90% less music this film might actually be decent.
Music is to highlight, applied with a fine brush, not with a roller.

Anyone balking at the middle part of the series is doing some privileged incurious low key racism. It’s set in during partition, a massive tragedy that doesn’t get much play in white popular media, as far as I know, Doctor Who is the only other big reach franchise to dedicate time to it and white folk groaned about boring brown people problems all over the interwebs. Same here.
