I'm partial to genre films but I like pretty much anything.
My favorites rotate.
Money troubles and power struggles within a traveling troupe of Ren Faire larpers who joust on motorcycles. Not exactly what I expected when I popped on a George Romero movie starring Tom Savini, but it was a surprisingly effective hangout drama anchored by Ed Harris just being his usual badass self. The motorcycle stunts were a nice bonus, too. The emotional beats in the last act totally worked on me. Really liked this.
Modern life is so busy and complicated, amiright???
This was like watching a living diorama at times, particularly in the first half. Really cool wide shots with so much happening in the frame. The restaurant segment was my favorite though because it reminded me of "The Innkeepers," one of my favorite episodes of Frasier.
Luca, baby! You still got the juice!
So much tennis in a movie that isn't even really about tennis. So much sexual tension in a movie that doesn't even really feature any sex.
Beautifully shot, kinetically edited, a banging score, steamy and tense. Terrific performances all around. A precise and meticulously executed vision presented with such a unique rhythm. I really loved this.
