Really hard to pick where about to begin with this review. Dune 2 is not only Sci-Fi greatness it’s cinema greatness. The visuals speak for themselves each scene fills up the screen with some beautiful imagery whether it’s in the Dunes or on other worlds. But for all it’s beautiful imagery and score; the performances make this that bit more perfect.
Austin Butler has been lauded for his performance in this a lot and it is so deserved. He is unbelievable and undeniably brilliant and cunning in this, but to say THAT performance is being lauded… and it isn’t even the best. For me Timothee steals the show as the lead here. His emotional range is on full display here and it is a beautiful sight to see. Additionally Zendaya pulls in an outstanding bit of work here too, she’s just brilliant throughout and is the true emotional heart of this film. Finally I really loved Brolin and Bautista in this who the latter I’m glad is getting his much deserved hype.
Before tonight I hadn’t watched the first movie of this series but after tonight and that especially. I truly cannot wait for the third piece to this story.
