Typically I don't enjoy watching stupid young people live horrible lives for two hours but there was something here I couldn't look away from - and it was probably Mikey Madison (because it sure as hell wasn't that f*ckwit Vanya). I know I'll be thinking about this for a few days.

For all of Anora's faults and insecurities, Madison is relentlessly ferocious and uncompromising. The character is hugely flawed but captivating, doubling down with the tenacity of someone who has had to fight every day in one way or another.

First and second acts were great, thanks to an entertaining story and some great casting. Though I wasn't a big fan of the third act overall, the final moments did a great job of summing up everything that came before.

Certainly a worthy addition on many a best-of list for the year. Alas, it doesn't fill me with much hope for the next generation - not that it ever intended to.
