Extremely flawed and frustrating but I have a soft spot for it nonetheless.

This movie starts out weird as f***, then settles into a rote rom com plot. When it’s on, it’s on. But when it off, there’s not a lot to offer here. Alley and Travolta have very little chemistry. Heckerling’s vision is clear, even if the jokes don’t always land.
Honestly, I would have been better without the talking babies.
My review will oversell this movie, but I promise that this is honest and not a hyperbolic reaction. Watching The Witch gave me an experience I've never had before while watching a movie. I. Was. Terrified. Never before has a film actually scared me, yet I sat near the end of this movie with my hoodie pulled over my head, pulling the drawstrings tighter and whispering "please be done."
