An exercise in visceral tension. Garland’s minimalism is better served by this than Civil War. An experience primarily made up of sensations, of silence shattered by gunfire; of hearing drowned by voices both real and radioed. The incredible sound design is a staple in the abundance of sensory details. Garland has certainly improved.
