i haven't read the novel, or seen any of the other adaptations in the past, so i have no knowledge of the lore, outside of these two newest movies.
finally, a "space opera" with storytelling that is actually interesting! the world building here is solid. the VFX, score, and cinematography, all
adding to its epic scale. the direction is good,
but some of the performances felt kind of stiff.
also, the pacing can be grueling. even though
it did a great job…
