Spielberg's definitely made way better films that WOTW, but I think it's one that feels under-appreciated more than anything. I think his directing strengths are still on display here with some great camerawork and suspense utilised well, plus the sound design definitely doesn't get enough credit in this film too.
IMO I think people were probably expecting this to be more like a Roland Emerich film given the character drama elements, which probably shows why some people don't like the…
Spielberg's skill and talent is really on full display here, and somehow The Academy thought that Crash was more worthy
I love Adam Sandler, but this one just didn’t hit. There’s so promise in the setup, with a solid concept, assembling an unlikely team of underdogs, similar to Major League. The only time I found myself actually laughing was with some of Chris Rock’s lines, so by the time they kill his character off for literally no reason, it really starts to lose steam. The final act literally just feels like watching a football game, I was excited when it…
Always been a personal favorite, watching for the first time in over a decade+ and first time on the big screen. Way more ambitious than other found footage horror films, feels nicely cobbled together collecting TV shows and news clips, surveillance videos, documentary footage etc convincingly putting together its own disturbing narrative. Unsettling from start to finish.

Thanks to Salty for the recommendation, this is my first foray into Hong Kong director Johnnie To. Not my last.
Election is a Hong Kong "Triad" thriller that channels Takashi Miike's brutal realism and John Woo's operatic tension, but filters it through the measured and restrained lens of an early De Palma or Fincher. There's even Coppola -style chiaroscuro. It's not quite Scorcese, but it's exactly the type of film he'd remake with an Italian or Irish cast.
Here's what…
like i've said before... if quentin tarantino actually wanted to help eli roth, he would just write him a good script. not stamp his name on a bad movie, like he's dario argento. this movie sucks butt. the dialogue is brutal, the acting is mediocre at best, and the story was dull. the idea is scary on paper, but the execution was not great. the gore is cool, though. you should never trust these sauna sluts.
I wanted to show my girlfriend these movies before the new one comes out in July, and even though it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, my feelings haven’t really changed. I’ve never been a big fan of the F4 in the comics, and much prefer them in a ing role than on their own, but I don’t think this movie does a particularly good job characterizing them. Johnny is supposed to be snarky, but he’s just flat…
The Mysterious Voyage of Johnny Cash
Would give it 5 stars if it had a spiritual talking coyote in it
In all seriousness, this is one of the most solid music bio-pics with Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, and James Mangold all crushing it here
mf realized guns work a lil better and didn’t look back 😭
