The nadir of the franchise, but perhaps the apex of Ethan Hunt's haircuts.

It is hard to explain to kids these days exactly how widespread the millennial nümetal Mountain Dew-commercial style became. I loved this when it first came out, because I loved John Woo. Hooboy is he lacking subtlety. I also have a trivial personal connection to this film: my father was a rep for 5.10 climbing shoes, which meant that Tom and I wore the same Ascent model…

Honestly this movie holds up so well! Watched this at age 15 for the first time and fell in love with it. Hadn’t watched it since though and I love it just as much. The way the story is told is just so much fun! Even if you know where it’s going it’s just exciting to see the events unfold the way they do. Glad I rewatched this

Its fun and the premise is great, but it would have been so much worse if Bruckheimer let Michael Bay direct it instead

I'd heard about Wong Kar Wei's ability to create a romantic atmosphere and mood. I was aware of it academically before today, but to experience it is a whole other thing. You can stop this film at any frame and talk for 20 minutes about it. I just finished Chungking Express, an earlier film of his,…

This sounded a lot more interesting than it actually ended up being. I love Nicolas Cage as much as the next but his character was infuriating and it seemed like every time he was about to start being a good person he goes and screws it up. This leads to the movie being significantly longer than it should be and it really starts to drag at the end. Funnily enough we just started watching Dark Matter on Apple TV because…
