right about everything

recently realized I hadn’t seen this since I was 15 and figured it deserved a rewatch so i popped in the absolutely gorgeous Kino 4k. while still not my favorite of the trilogy (the melodrama at the heart of for a few dollars more still wins for me), i was struck with how much better leone’s directing gets as the trilogy goes on. this is just absolutely firing on all cylinders, and i don’t think i’m hyperbolizing here by saying it…
very ambitious, impressive filmmaking that i wish was the standard for most of the slop making it to the multiplex! don’t think the first half transitions very smoothly into the second (as i actually think the first is much better executed), but that’s probably more my personal taste
