Ironically as the movie portrays a woman torn between surrendering to her desires and resisting them, Babygirl itself seems to wrestle with the same conflict. The movie appears almost self-conscious, as if it wants to push boundaries and explore new depths on this complex theme, yet hesitates like it’s uncomfortable - much like Romy for most of the time.
