Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette of Juror #2 discuss working with the man, the myth, the legend: Clint Eastwood.
“That’s one of the things that’s special about watching [Eastwood’s] movies, is he trusts the audience and their intelligence,” Nicholas Hoult told Letterboxd in an interview for Clint Eastwood’s latest—and perhaps final—film, Juror #2. ”He’s really taught me this trust and acceptance of, ‘Feel, do, and then let it be.’ That’s kind of a beautiful thing to have learned from someone who’s got such a prolific career and understanding of film.”
Hoult’s co-star Toni Collette (About a Boy reunion!) backs him up, positing that “that way of working is like a metaphor for how he feels about life.” The pair then recall a special screening of Unforgiven that Hoult hosted while shooting Juror #2 in Savannah, Georgia, with many of the crew who worked on that 1992 Western in attendance. “It was really special to be in the theater watching it on the big screen, but also to hear people reacting to it who had personal memories of that film and being there,” Hoult reminisced.
