I’m interested in the way we tell stories about our lives. About the fact that the truth about the past is often ephemeral and difficult to pin down, and many of our stories, when we don’t take proper time to do research about our past —which is almost always the case— end up with shifts and fictions in them, mostly unintended.
Such an affective approach to documentary. The way she plays with storytelling and her use of uncanny actors for the super8 footage. I was captured by the entirety of her story and fascinated with the small differences in everyone’s memories.

With a line like that, it’s hard to believe how little affection and chemistry is in this movie. Total bummer. Gene is radiant which makes it not a total failure.
