I knew this mystery movie was going to be Life Of Chuck going into it, and I’m really surprised by how much I enjoyed it !

I’ve always been a bigger fan of Stephen Kings sappier shit, and this definitely fits right in there. I love what this has to say about art and the importance of pursuing your ion in life- I may or may not have cried the majority of the last hour 

I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy the way the movie is structured, since I was a little thrown off at first, but I was sold by the end of act 2 

Definitely going to be divisive, evidenced by the guy sitting in front of me who gave it 2.5 stars and his girlfriend who loved it  

Wouldn’t be mad to see this nominated for a few Oscars

I haven’t seen either of the Karate Kid movies, that this one attempts to combine, in years. I have not and will not ever watch Cobra Kai- so why the fuck did I watch this? Idk I was bored ?

Definitely not terrible ! There’s some interesting plot concepts that are played around with in the first hour that kind of flips the whole series on its head- but it’s not very well executed and then it’s completely abandoned in the later half for the “let’s make a karate kid” plot line

Script is terrible, but honestly, who really gives a fuck 

Best part of the movie was the Stop & Shop fried chicken I housed while watching it

Round 5: 4 of my castmates from RENT decided that they wanted to go see Sinners once we were done rehearsal- and yea- of fucking course I went 

I really wanted to see what this movie was like sans aspect ratio changes, and it’s just as good. Yes, the aspect ratios help give that deep sense of heightened emotion and tension, but most of that is handled with Ryan Cooglers writing and direction. So while I missed the changes, it definitely didn’t take much away from the experience. Also no one else that saw it with me knew about the aspect ratio changes and still liked it all the same- and THATS cinema

I had to go back for round 2 after watching Lilo & Stitch. I love that one of my favorite and least favorite films of the year came out on the same day 

This is gonna be one of those movies that I’ll be quoting for a long time- it’s totally cherry 

Somehow worse than I could even imagine

Here’s just few things I hated:
-it’s filmed like a Netflix movie 
-the CGI is awful and scary 
-all of the characters feel so distant from their original counterparts that they’re basically different people 
-Stitch is fucking annoying 
-So is Lilo 
-Nani fully abandons Lilo at the end of the movie and she gets rehoused by S 
-Captain Gantu is fully cut from the film and is just replaced with Jumba, who is now the main antagonist 
-Jumba is played by Zach Galifianakis which 1) means he has no accent anymore and 2) he is now the most insufferable pretentious piece of shit (full on discord mod at times) 
-Jumba and Pleakley are in human form for most of the movie but idk what’s worse- that or having to look at their terrible, ugly alien designs 
-they cut trans Pleakley
-David is not important at all
-Bubbles is now a cuck beta male 

Fuck this movie it’s evil and it turns its source material into brain rot

Ngl, seeing the arming of Israel’s nuclear arsenal was triggering af 

Not a bad “conclusion” for the franchise! Yea it’s definitely waited down by a lot of exposition and call backs to previous films, but as someone who just watched 90% of these movies for the first time, it didn’t really bother me too much 

That final act is exhilarating- I’m sad this was my first MI in theaters but I also had a lot of fun at the same time

But was it worth bingeing the whole series this month? Yea I think so

Lilo & Stitch was the first movie I ever saw in theaters, and I’m pretty sure this live action remake will be my last because it’s going to make me kill myself

Okay so this is my favorite Disney movie of all time- maybe even my favorite animated film of all time. I watch it maybe 5-6 times a year but I’ve never logged it because I don’t want to look like a Disney adult, but I love this movie so goddamn much 

Everything about this movie is just perfect to me- the animation, the color palette, the characters and character design, the script and themes (which are shockingly mature despite the goofiness of the main idea) I mean “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” has to be my favorite animated sequence of all time- the abandonment of 2D animation will be studied as one of the worst decisions ever made by the industry 

Maybe I’m biased because this movie is literally the embodiment of my childhood, but goddamn this never gets old and makes me cry at almost every scene 

I love this movie and if you don’t, fuck you

They say “never fuck with Frendo, but they never say “never fuck Frendo” 

I really wasn’t excited to see this at all, but that last 30-40 minutes is so fucking fun that now I kinda wanna read the book

Bring Her Back is very disturbing- and it’s also very devastating; incredible acting all around (especially from Sally Hawkins holy shit I’ve never seen her like this) 

While I don’t think I liked it as much as Talk To Me, this a great sophomore film and I can’t wait to see what fucked up shit the Philippou brothers come up with next

I knew eventually Trey Edward Shults would show everyone that he’s pretty much just a “bells and whistles” director, with his almost always pointless aspect ratio changes and his chaotic editing- but this is a whole new low point 

Good art always has something to say, whether I agree with the message or not, but this is just an empty, shallow husk of a film that wants us to take us on an “odyssey” but in reality has absolutely nothing to say about anything 

Theres literally a scene when Jenna Ortega ties The Weeknd to a bed and makes him listen to his own music while talking about how genius it is 

Just a bunch of rich people jerking each other off trying to make the next Indie masterpiece

When I broke my knee, I repeatedly kept having to get MRIs done over and over again. I had just finished watching all of the Final Destination movies so every time I went into the fucking noisy ass machine, I would think about all the crazy kills that could happen during an MRI- did it freak me out? Yes. Was I right? Absolutely 

So like? Is this the best Final Destination? I feel like I’m going crazy because there’s no way but like- the acting was solid, the script didn’t make me want to kill myself, I cared about all of the characters, and there were no needlessly racist/sex pest characters- I guess if that’s where the bar is…

Some incredible child acting, especially from River Phoenix- think I’m gonna watch My Own Private Idaho soon

I watched this earlier this morning and completely forgot about it until I was almost done my shift at work 

Funny movie- really sad I had never seen it before, I would’ve loved this as a kid

Some movies are worth destroying entire movie studios- is Heavens Gate one of them? Idk but it’s fucking gooooooood

I’ve owned this Blu-ray for like 5 years at this point but just never got around to watching it because it scared me- and I was right to be! It’s slow paced and devastating, but I’m very happy I had the impulse to watch it today 

It’s kind of unbelievable how detailed and beautiful this film is (of course attributed to the 35+ million dollars this went over budget), I just wish the plot was strong enough to justify the long run time

It’s kind of amazing how much I hated Alvy and everything he did 

I’ve read a few Woody Allen plays before and they were fine, but I had never seen any of his films, so I’m sad to say I didn’t like this as much as I’d hoped- and I definitely didn’t hate it- but for some reason, this just didn’t click with me

That’s how I act whenever I get Taco Bell 

I started watching this on a DVD with a 4:3 aspect ratio and I was fucking loving it, but the disc was scratched and we had to rent it on Prime video and it switched to a 16:9 aspect ratio and it still looked really cool but man- 4:3 really is the goat 

Anyway, I absolutely love the way MiniDV looks and I feel absolutely inspired

I really forgot how fucking terrible this movie is- especially as a prequel to The Sopranos 

Most of this movie is just watching actors do impressions of other actors giving better acting performances (John Magaro as Silvio- I rest my case) and even when they have a great idea, like showing the Newark Riots, this movie acts like it doesn’t give a flying fuck about it and cares a million percent more about a boring ass copy-paste romance with Dickie and his step mom 

Instead of matching the TV shows color palate and film stock, they opt for an ugly ass, plastic feeling, digitally shot nightmare with an awful grey scale filter over the whole thing that makes the vibrant colors of the 60s feel ugly and uninspired

I saw this in the movie theater right after I finished watching the show for the first time, and was definitely a lot nicer to it then, but now that I’ve seen the show a second time, I can safely say this really sucks ass

I would die for Olmo 

Really interesting that both of the Bertolucci films I’ve seen start exactly the same way

Another really frustrating watch for me because a lot of this film is incredible, especially that entire last hour, but it’s really bogged down by a lot of really long and uninteresting scenes, which while I understand the need for them to exist, I found them dull and meandering. 

I also really hated that I had to choose between a full Italian dub or a full English dub (which I chose so I could see Robert De Niro’s performance) because there was no way for the languages to flip back and forth 

I could definitely see myself giving this a higher score, but there’s also a scene that happens towards the beginning that I really fucking hated watching and I don’t think was necessary at all- fucking Italians 

99% sure I watched this in the wrong aspect ratio (4:3) because of the compression on the DVD, but I’m ngl- I kinda loved it? It definitely lead to some awkward framing here and there, but I highly recommend 🙌

There were certain parts of the movie where I was thinking “Jesus Christ, who wrote this dialogue” and then I found out it was the dude who made Crash 

I’m not a massive Clint Eastwood fan and I ed this being my favorite of his films by far, and yea that still kinda holds up 

Hilary Swank definitely won that Oscar

Okay yea this one is fucking gas holy shit  

I think I enjoyed this one more than the other recent Mission Impossible films because this one felt like it actually had stakes to it- something I haven’t really felt since the first one. Sure the other plots try to make you feel like they’re all in danger, but this is the first time I’ve actually felt it. I mean that whole train sequence is as close to perfect as you can get in an action thriller, and it honestly might be because of Hayley Atwell’s performance 

Some more thoughts:
-the Cruciform Key is one of the coolest macguffins I’ve seen in recent memory 
-the fiat car chase might be one of my favorite car chances ever 
- Pom Klementieff is so fucking cool in this 
-I’m honestly so hype for Final Reckoning in a way I didn’t think was possible

Fight or Flight is what I went though when I realized the mystery movie wasn’t Friendship

This is just a really cheap ripoff of Bullet Train (basically Bullet Plane) except it’s not funny and also really fucking stupid- I don’t think anyone in my theater laughed at a single joke 

Some of the action sequences are cool and fun, but the whole things just feels so lazy in pretty much every aspect. The plot is sloppy and uninteresting, the dialogue is terrible, the acting is really bad (except for Josh Hartnett) and there are so many unnecessary long pauses between line deliveries that I wanted to rip my hair out 

I didn’t think I was gonna dislike this as much as a did, but I was really not digging any of this- maybe I’m being to harsh but Jesus that was such a mess

Every divorced dad who gets really into crypto and reactionary politics be like:

I guess RFK jr has never heard of The ant before 

I cannot believe he has a secret league of non verbal autistic children that help him track down his targets

Not really sure what the square dancing scene had to do with the plot but I mean hey- it was fun !

Inflation fans are gonna love that one scene

I had never played Until Dawn before, so before I went to the theater, I watched a video explaining the story and lore of the game- and yea this ain’t it LMAO 

God this really sucks because there’s definitely a really cool original film here that feels like it’s being smothered by an IP it wants nothing to do with. A few references to the game and some pretty great practical effects aren’t enough to make this work as a whole

I also thought the main actress was Dixie D'Amelio for like a good 15 minutes

Wheaties are fucking terrible- Can we get them on the box of a good cereal??? Like Cap’n Crunch??? Or peanut butter Cap’n Crunch???

I really wasn’t excited to see this because 1) I didn’t care about half of the characters and 2) it looked corny and bad- but HEY! This was pretty good! Yea it definitely has (massive) script issues and wonky CGI- but literally at what point does that just become par for the course? (Strap in for how terrible Doomsday is gonna look)

They dealt with heavier themes without undercutting the seriousness of the situation with awful dumb humor- yes the awful dumb humor is still here (especially with JLD and her assistant) but it’s definitely not as bad as in other recent MCU movies. 

Overall a pretty good time and I think if I had saw this when I was 15/16 it would probably end up being one of my favorites- but anyone saying this is the best marvel movie since end game??? C’mon guys what are we talking about ?

Okay so how have they never made a full LEGO Mission Impossible video game?? I can see each level so clearly and I just know it would be such a banger- they fucking better do this with the last movie coming out that would be so sick I would play it day one 

Kind of a bland rehash of the last film that was fully saved by Henry Cavill and great 3rd act

It’s kind of remarkable that for a movie called The Legend Of Ochi, it’s not really a legend about Ochi

Really sucks that this is pretty much the exact copy paste plot that a lot of family films have, because I was really digging the visual style (up until the third act at least when it starts to feel very rushed)

4th time in theaters:I had a good friend drive up from Pennsylvania so that I could see it with him, and I was worried the whole time that he wouldn’t like it as much as I do- He fucking loved it 

Literally thank god- I feel so vindicated this movie is incredible everyone needs to see this

Wasn’t expecting that Cranberries needle drop towards the end that was kinda crazy

Had to go back a third time so I could watch this high- I felt like I was having an out of body experience and loved every second of it

Aspect ratio changes are breath taking, score is incredible- literally what is there to hate about this ???

“The moment seizes us”

Watching this for the first time when you’re 25 and life feels like it’s just kind of thrown you aside really fucking hits different I guess 

This really felt like I was looking into my past, not just through how tangible each character feels, but how real and lived in the world is. I my childhood in the mid-2000s so vividly and this just felt like I was living there again. 

The emotions behind having divorced parents that you can’t really explain to someone who hasn’t gone through that- the loneliness of constantly moving- the at each others throats nature of having an older sibling- not fully understanding the grow up world around you but trying to anyway- the awkwardness of being a teenager- the cringey nature of older kids that you think are the coolest- finding the art you love to make-having adults tell you to get your shit together- and leaving for college not knowing what is ahead of you. 

Maybe it’s my nostalgia speaking, but this was cathartic in a way that I just didn’t think was possible- and I think it’s because every scene was filmed in the time period that it took place in. Harry Potter book release parties, arguing about Revenge of The Sith characters, George Bush, Obama, McCain, fucking Sarah Palin- everything worked because it was real

I know a lot of people don’t like this movie because it doesn’t have “a plot” but that’s exactly the reason I loved it. Sure, there are certain parts I could live without, but I can overlook some of those “flaws” because the big picture is so beautiful. I cried- so fucking hard 

I love Richard Linklater- I fucking hate Birdman

Actually incredible 

I did not give a fuck about seeing this after the first trailer, but holy shit this was just all around so fucking good- there were multiple scenes where my jaw was on the floor. 

It’s horrifying, it’s funny, it’s sad, it’s awesome, it’s entertaining, it’s cathartic- it’s everything you could want in a blockbuster

If this doesn’t get a fuck ton of Oscar noms, I’m going to be pissed
