Insanely better the third time around, and gives me very Rogue Nation vibes the way it just goes from one insane setpiece to the next. Also holy shit Ethan put on glasses again and somehow looks even better than he did in the first film.

How come any mention or showing of Julia in the M:I movies after three just absolutely brings the waterworks?

It’s crazy how this one just bounces from one insane set piece to the next. Plane, opera, underwater, car chase, and they’re ALL BANGERS!

Just really never gets old. I always go into it thinking, “it must be weaker this time right?” And then it’s still just so damn good.

Holy shit does every M:I movie get just insanely better with the third rewatch? How did I not love this one before?!? Phillip Seymour Hoffman just KILLS it in this.

It’s hilarious that Kristen is basically just playing a mix of Elphaba and Glinda in this.

Legit a perfect example of The Rule of Cool while also just being a DAMN awesome film, full of surprising depth and themes and a ton of fun.

I completely forgot how much of an absolute TWINK Luke is in this film!

I love this film so much, the way it truly builds up Anita’s Cinderella story and slowly breaks it down into a dramatic, tender character study is brilliant. And yet, while sad, this film is still so so funny at times. Just a fun yet beautifully tragic story and I hope it wins as much as it deserves. Also can I just say this might have my favorite needle drop ever? “TONIGHT THIS COULD BEEEEE THE GREATEST NIGHT OF OUR LIVES!!”

Actually…I liked this one more a second time too. Obviously it still looks…off for a majority of the film, but I noticed some better looking parts this time around. I also now see why our actresses were nominated, very deserving, and though the score is definitely good enough for the nomination it got, the Oscar’s whole thing about originality in score completely muddled my thoughts on that. The choreography too is just very fun, as is those last 20 minutes but man some of this drags. I’d say about 2/3 of this works really well and the other bits don’t work at all for me.

Honestly really surprised how well this held up on a rewatch, but extremely glad it did. Still manages to be extremely tense, fun, and mysterious right up until the last frame. Plus I still truly love the twist, even without all the old people in the audience.
