I think the kiki would have been just fine if they just went the David route. Joking aside, it's pretty great seeing a solid vampire flick set in 1930s rural Mississippi.

Though I would have liked some more explanation of how music summoned the vampires, but also....I think we know how and why. We all love a hood singy song.

As someone who has known maybe little of Josephine Baker prior to watching this film, this really did have me captivated. The cinematography and outfits are really top notch, and Lynn Whitfield absolutely slays the lead role. I do know that as a biopic released in the 90s, it's not gonna be everything, but I definitely feel like I have been given everything (if you catch my drift).

I could absolutely be friends with just about every one of these characters....except the one academia-pilled professor lady.

You know this film has got to have one of the most satisfying endings in film, period. So many of the characters feel it's way over their head, like this shit was like watching a match of chess unfold. Oh, the gay shit is very delicious!
