The magic and the tragedy of cinema is that it can force you to empathise. You know what you see isn't real but yet your feelings tell you otherwise. Writing and a camera will present fiction as reality and will make you wish for the death of innocent human beings.

(the nuclear family seems to be a great tool to emotionalise and manipulate)

Great times for desensitisation and emotional numbing.

A masterpiece of the absolute highest order. I pity all those who couldn't feel what I felt while watching this. To me, this is art that lies beyond simple categorisation of "how was it?". This is art that withdraws itself from mundane ratings, analysis or critique, art that simply is and will always be indescribable.

As Kubrick himself put it: "There are certain areas of feeling and reality - or unreality or innermost yearning, whatever you want to call it - which are notably inaccessible to words."

Hypnotic. The way things are delivered here is astonishing. Everything we need to know is in frame, only it's hidden in corners and dark shadows we may only consciously pick up on in multiple viewings, demanding absolute attention.
