The grandest of film series in history follow the trend of peak on their second entry: The Godfather, Nolan’s Batman, LOTR, and Star Wars. Villeneuve hit the ace in the hole with this one as he outdid himself with the anticipated Messianic shift of the story. The sound design haunts like chambers of brutalism and the architecture of each frame are post cards to all film museums. That being said, the opportunity and scale is never materialised to its optimum potential. It felt fast paced that the build-up to Al-Gaib’s rise is set awkward and forced, misfortunate for Villeneuve to miss the luxury of another half an hour.
