Beautiful and unique, hope to see more from Isaiah !!
]]>GINTS GINTS GINTS
]]>Not as good as green room or blue ruin but still a solid entry in Saulnier’s filmography!
]]>Crazy good! Had the pleasure of seeing the world premiere at tiff. Next level realism, incredible nuanced performances. Laura Carreira is a master, can’t wait to see what she does next!
]]>Dumb and brilliant
]]>It was cool
]]>Saw at annecy, absolute banger. Mind blowing in every way. Must watch!
]]>Didn’t quite hit!
]]>Looks like a milquetoast Pixar knockoff on the outside but surprisingly great and funny. I thought that animal logic would be basically dead post Netflix acquisition but now I have some hope for them.

]]>Have seen twice now, really unique. One of my festival favs of the past few years. Every sequence is stunning and entertaining.

]]>Dreamworks used to be the anti-Disney. It’s a shame watching this film that people have been praising partly for its stylized rendering and animation (which has essentially since spiderverse been auto-greenlit by execs), while the character designs have almost all devolved into more Disney template copies, completely dismissing one of the things that made the original Shrek films so appealing to me. I really hope they don’t go this same direction with Shrek 5, bring back the ugly, uncanny characters that we used to get in films like Shrek, or Toy Story (Al from Al’s toy barn was brilliant), or Rango (visually my favorite). There’s so much more than can be done with animation.
Outside of that, it’s a pretty run of the mill animated kids film.
]]>Definitely in the grand scheme of big corporate blockbuster movies, this is the kind that I would much rather see. Still felt watered down by all the executives who had their hands on this, but had a ton of fun stuff going for it nonetheless. Ran a bit too long for me, but the first half was pretty great.
]]>My most anticipated film of the year and Matt Johnson fucking crushed it, he is a genius. Absolutely lived up to the hype.
]]>reallllly fucking bad, director is clearly a libertarian who idolizes ross ulbricht. Either the acting and/or writing for Ross is just complete garbage, performances are so hard to watch. There are some good parts. Paul Walter Ha is extremely entertaining. I'd highly recommend watching just for shits if you think this topic is interesting, but its made it really clear to me that someone should make a film about this realm (darknet markets) that is actually critical of the libertarian ideology that this film completely fails to critique, I think it could be really good.
]]>pretty bad but visually this kicks so much ass. so refreshing to see 3d work that looks different than disney pixar style or spiderverse style, will pretty much give anything else that is visually interesting at least 3 stars.
]]>First third of the film had some amazing ideas and it felt like it had a ton of potential. The second two thirds had some moments but felt like the ideas ran out for the most part and it was trying to just ride on Mia goth’s performance. Not a “good” movie, but it was entertaining. Brandon Cronenberg should show it to his therapist.
]]>Hands down favorite short of 2022, and I loved a lot of shorts that year. The first thing that always comes to my mind with Sander’s work is unmatched visual storytelling that uses animation as a medium perfectly. So creative and charming, I get more out of it every time I see it. One of my favorite screenings was Ottawa where it got the best reaction of any film. Cannot recommend this film and this filmmaker enough! Watch multiple times!
]]>Saw this at Sundance, undoubtedly the least pretentious film and most fun film I saw at the festival. It’s extremely silly, but Andrew and the team do an amazing job handling all aspects and creating a nostalgic, viral, campy, and wonderful film.
]]>Watched this at Sundance, probably my favorite animated short. Extremely funny, Maddie Brewer is a genius who handled all aspects. Excited to see more from her!
]]>Visually masterful. I wish there were more animated films like this.

]]>By far best pixar movie this decade. Legit great sequel (well prequel). Way more fun to watch fun monster designs in human world than boring Disney style humans that are in every movie these days. Also pretty funny, great final act, surprisingly not cringe. If you’re sick of everything pixar and Disney do these days but want to watch a good animated film and haven’t seen this def check it out.
]]>One of the 3 animated films that comes out each decade breaking the boring as hell Pixar Disney mold and making something with a unique visual style. Not afraid to look sort of ugly in the best possible way. Fun movie with a cool history being the first fully brute forced path traced film all the way back in 2006!
]]>Big fan of the visual motifs and overall look and sound of the film. A lot of slow build up to a few particularly excellent scenes but the pay off is worth it.
]]>A masterpiece.
]]>One of my all time favorites.

]]>One of my all time favorites. Cannot recommend enough.
]]>good and bad in all the funnest ways. this movie rules
]]>Insanely cool style with a whatever story. Do not watch the dub.
]]>this is what happens when you give nolan a blank check. a movie made for people who thought inception was the pinnacle of cinema. nice to look at, but a mess.
]]>Really ccool for the first 10 mins, then enter the "soul world" with a bunch of silly made up rules and I am immediately bored. Still pretty to look at though.
