My profile lists this as one of my 4 favorite films. I consider it without contender to be the best science fiction film ever, and a strong contender for the greatest film I've ever seen.

I hadn't realized this was a complete remake. Often scene by scene and sometimes line by line the original.

But changing the setting means that instead of a kid from New Jersey schooling some California yuppies in Karate, a kid from Detroit schools the entire nation of China in Kung Fu after two months of practice.

To give this film 5 stars is more tautological than meaningful. I consider it the best action film simply because I judge all other action films in relation to this. This is, in a true sense, the canonical action film. Sometimes people put things in a film canon if they are great films or must-watch films. That was very enjoyable. A bright spot amongst Marvel's many stumbles this decade.

I didn't think Taskmaster worked very well in the Black Widow film, so I wasn't sure she'd work here. But I liked what they did with her a lot.
