Denis Villeneuve leaves me so cold except Blade Runner 2049 but this was an immensely exciting and beautiful work filled with such an interesting portrayal of fanaticism and politics. Still really loved Rebecca Ferguson but Austin Butler was really a scene stealer. I will say though the pacing is so much better than the first one, it never lost steam for me and it kept building this operatic vision that finally led to this awful realization of who we’re really rooting for. 

I kind of wish Villeneuve leaned more into the Fremen as a very Arabic coded group of people because the idea of a massive state taking land and then systematically killing them seemed to be very, very prescient these days.
