'Source Code' expectantly struggles on repeat viewings. The twists and the impressive gradual bleed of the narrative to the audience lacks the emotional kick that the first viewing offered.
But this is still a well crafted and exciting film with a fantastic premise that could have easily turned into a convoluted mess of a picture. It does well not to become ALL exposition, and the mystery what is happening to our protagonist, a reliable Jake Gyllenhaal, is just as fascinating as the unlikely romance that manages to take place in between the action between Gyllenhaal and the ever-lovable Michelle Monaghan.
At times it can appear that Duncan Jones spoon-feeds the plot to the audience a little too much, especially when compared to his debut masterpiece 'Moon', but 'Source Code' is a much more mainstream feature that manages to take both cinema buffs and popcorn munchers on an enjoyable ride. I can't wait to see what Jones does with his 'Warcraft' adaptation.
