Clearly better than the Harlin – as predicted, all the interesting stuff originated here, and the murder-scene recreations of religious art is pretty inspired (and probably influenced Hannibal). Count on an avowed Christian to really lean into the themes of guilt and repentance. Gets pretty goofy at the end, like all exorcism movies; there's only so serious you can get with this concept.

It's impressive that in a film with two Irish romantic leads, neither one of them is played by an Irishman.

Also they both sing, and Harry Connick Jr. doesn't.
