Camden’s review published on Letterboxd:
A film so spectacular, epic & awe-inspiring, the second part of Villeneuve’s behemoth Dune saga is a tour-de-force of deep space political sci-fi that explores the savior complex that has started conflict among so many religions parallel to the real world. Undeniably a fantastic cinematic experience for the ages, Dune: Part Two is a visual feast on the grandest scale. The visuals are harsh, the landscapes almost painful. As for this being our generation’s Empire Strikes Back- I’d say that’s pretty spot on. Villeneuve is responsible for some of the best blockbusters since Peter Jackson’s LOTR trilogy, Dune: Part Two now being at the top of that heap. The only thing I have to hold against this film is the character of Chani being just about as useful in this film as she was in the last, which is a bit of a bummer when something substantial probably could’ve taken her screen time. Overall, Dune: Part Two is the best blockbuster since Villeneuve’s own Blade Runner 2049, and sits among the top of a steady-growing, impressively grandiose filmography for the French-Canadian auteur.
