“Death is peaceful.. easy; life is harder.”
You know I’ve only ever written a serious movie review once, but here we are I guess. On the second watch through, I’ve been trained to notice things such as when Edward drives past Harry, you can very clearly see the camera crew through the backseat window. Or when him and Bella are climbing up the tree, you can see the harness under Edward’s shirt. It’s no surprise that this movie is low-budget and cliche, but in secret everyone loves this movie and no one has the courage to put it in their top four. I do.
I wasn’t sure about this series at first but now rewatching the first movie I am confident that this is the best rom-com / fantasy I’ll ever see. Every time Robert Pattison is on screen it just feels right. He can hate these movies all he wants but his performances are never dull, and Kristen Stewart did amazing with what she was given. Bella is incredibly simplistic, which Kristen really embodies and somehow manages to bring depth and balance to the story.
Another thing I’m just obsessed with is the lighting contrast of this whole movie. Twilight is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the same woman who directed the 2003 movie “Thirteen” and boy does it show. This film uses blue lighting which provokes feelings of serenity and euphoria; depending on the scene it can also give us feelings of vulnerability and unknowingness. Which is what we see in all of the scenes with the Cullens, except one. The slow dance. We are introduced to a warmer, yellow-ish lighting that encourages comfort, hope, happiness, etc. We can tell in this moment Bella feels safe in Edward’s arms. Comfortable where she is in the time being with him. It’s beautiful if you ask me.
]]>Twilight is filled with memorable scenes, one liners, and everything in between. I can’t describe what I feel about this movie in words, and I've only felt that for a handful of movies. (Handful meaning two) It really is just the little things that do it for me, Robert singing the ending credits song, Alice, the things Edward and Bella say to each other.. It’s just perfection and I’m actually never getting over it.

And what if I said that it actually wasn’t that bad? And what if I said that it actually felt more like a Disney film then most of the movies they put out today??
But in all seriousness it genuinely was not that bad. The dwarfs were absolutely adorable, animals were very fun, the lighting and the atmosphere was 100% on the money THE WHOLE TIME.
The only major downside was when Gal Gadot came onto the screen. Her acting was dreadful, but most of the songs were fun and I enjoyed it!! ☺️
