although i liked the first one, there’s a huuuge upgrade in the dialogue here. i loved both parts, but i think this one is better. i also really enjoyed how this second part explores more of her story and her past.

]]>“as long as you can still grab a breath, you fight”
i’d build a museum just to hang every shot in this movie. is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking films i’ve ever seen. it deserves credit in every production aspect: the makeup, the lighting, the cinematography, the sound design and the incredible effort of filming in such harsh real locations.
“i ain’t afraid to die anymore. i’ve done it already”
although it’s a movie about a man surviving nature, i think it’s just as important to see it as a story about a man surviving within nature. i love the subtle but powerful critique on how the natives tribes were fighting for what used to be their land.
“climate change is real. it is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species. let us not take this planet for granted”
this review wouldn’t be complete without giving credit to Leo’s raw and intense performance, he fully embodied the character to perfection.
amazing performances by Jodie and Hopkins. the climax was straight up hell for my anxiety

]]>no one writes dialogue as entertaining and funny as Quentin Tarantino. every conversation he writes gives his characters so much charisma
]]>it’s way better than I ed. even though it’s silly at times and the script can feel a bit lazy, it works really well for me as a comedy with social critique. It actually reminded me a lot of The Simpsons. i love DiCaprio for taking this role, it’s such a DiCaprio character lmao

]]>“Now if this was a movie we could write the ending of this script, and we could figure out a way out of this mess. But real life doesn’t work like that, and we can’t pretend that we know how this is gonna end. The only thing that we can do is control what we do next, how we live our lives, what we consume, how we get involved, and how we use our vote to tell our leaders that we know the truth about the climate change.”
now this is why i love Leo. i ire how much he cares for this world (as we all should), but the difference is, he takes action. watching him travel the world, facing burning forests, melting ice, and rising waters, you realize he’s not playing a role. he’s genuinely worried, angry, and trying to make a change.
it gave me goosebumps to see and learn about every aspect of this documentary: the massive deforestation, the livestock industry, the corruption, the impact on the poorest communities, and the personal responsibility we each hold in how we consume. it’s a wake-up call for me and for everyone who has a bit of love for this amazing world where we live.

]]>“you have so much love to share with the world and so much life yet to live”
genuinely one of the saddest films i’ve ever seen, i spent the last 30 minutes just bawling my eyes out. i had high expectations for this movie, and it still surprised me. i’m amazed by the camerawork; every shot is so beautiful and yet so meaningful to the story and its characters, the aspect ratio shifts throughout the film in an amazing and creative way to improve the storytelling. it’s a masterclass in directing.
every single performance was outstanding and felt incredibly real; the script definitely deserves credit for that too. on a more technical level, the cinematography is so aesthetically pleasing, and the lighting is so damn good. the soundtrack in this movie is definitely one of the best i’ve ever heard. it’s basically my taste in music so i might be a little biased.

i absolutely LOVE Seb’s explanation for jazz, it’s written in such a ionate way with so much love for this art, and i think that this dialogue in specific represents Chazelle’s love for movies, which, to me, is totally inspiring
