Sometimes you just need something sweet, warm, and uncomplicated to spend a couple of hours with, and “Nonnas” is just that - a delightful little film with wonderful actors and a lovely story. 
 
It’s great to see all the ladies who play the nonnas - Brenda Vaccaro, Lorraine Bracco, and Talia Shire - in something again, and I don’t know who Susan Sarandon’s plastic surgeon is, but damn, they’re good

This is a movie that mostly gets what an addiction to alcohol looks like right, from the very first frame to **almost* the last before it cops out with a forced, fake Hollywood Happy Ending that I hate, hate, hated - and I've been in recovery for over 17 years! But, what else were they going to do? It was 1945, and they had as much a clue about it then as they do now.
