Superb film. Dark, brooding and noir neo-gothic in a style that only Japanese film-makers can pull off without looking like prize dickheads.

Imagine taking a tub of caviar and mixing it in with your favourite ice cream, throwing in some bits of the engine of your favourite sports car and some of the dismembered limbs of of your favourite sports team. It's a bit like this. The constituent parts are all excellent in their own right, but have been put together in a ridiculously hotch-potch way. Wasted talents of Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li and Ken Watanabe... And excellent source material too. Could have been so much more.

Anybody who doesn't like The Warriors is wrong.
