Ben Challoner’s review published on Letterboxd:
I think I’m going to love this whole series! The inciting video here is awesome and sets up the investigation really well, but when the supernatural team get involved and the “Kudo method” is in full effect (complete with the use of cursed tools from the previous entry) it rocks!
The other cool thing about this is that it goes places I really wasn’t expecting! When Shiraishi is at his best for me is with films like OCCULT where things keep evolving in unpredictable ways, and I got that feeling from this. It might be a ghost story but it gets much weirder!
Basically I’m all in on this series! The style is consistently interesting, the cast are all great (especially Shigeo Ôsako as Kudo who manages to be the absolute worst but makes it entertaining) and the investigations are filled with unpredictability. I can’t wait to see more 😅
