Wells does such a good job of creating the tone of longing and distant memory that every frame feels incredibly fragile, like it will disintegrate if you look away. A collection of fleeting moments between father and daughter, without the trappings of cinematic tropes/genre expectations and instead resonating on a more human level. You don’t need to know any more about the characters, because all that matters is Sophie singing Losing My Religion at the Karaoke bar and Calum crying…
