watching my dad and my favorite movie in imax with him was such a special experience. i started crying before anything had even happened because i already felt the weight of the grief that this movie holds: the grief of sacrificing being there while your children grow up to ensure that every child can grow up, the grief of realizing that your daughter aged 23 years in 3 hours, the grief of seeing your elderly daughter on her deathbed and realizing that you missed out on her entire life. i don't think there anything more beautiful than the idea that a father's love for his daughter is so powerful that it literally transcends space and time, saving her and the rest of the human race. because, of course, he promised her.
"i love you, forever. you hear me? i love you forever. and i'm coming back. i'm coming back."
